CDAI Interpretation

CDAI <= 2.8: Remission
CDAI > 2.8 and <= 10: Low Disease Activity
CDAI > 10 and <= 22: Moderate Disease Activity
CDAI > 22: High Disease Activity

Notes
  • In the hands, the joints that are evaluated include the first through fifth metacarpophalangeal joint, the interphalangeal joint of the thumb, and the second through fifth proximal interphalangeal joint.
  • The PGA or Patient Global disease Activity estimate represents the patient's self assessment of disease activity on a 0-10 scale where 10 means maximal activity.
  • The EGA or Evaluator Global disease Activity estimate represents the evaluator's assessment of disease activity on a 0-10 scale where 10 means maximal activity.
  • A CDAI reduction by 6.5 represents a moderate improvement.

Equations used

CDAI = SJC + TJC + PGA + EGA
