Chest Pain in 74-Yr-Old Man

Question 3

The TIMI score helps categorize risk level for which of the following outcomes? (You may select more than one option.)

The TIMI score consists of the following:

  • Age ≥ 65
  • Having ≥3 coronary artery disease (CAD) risk factors
  • Aspirin use in the last 7 days
  • Severe angina on ≥ 2occasions in the last 24 h
  • Known CAD with ≥ 50% stenosis in a major epicardial vessel
  • ST changes ≥ 0.5 mm
  • Positive cardiac biomarkers

Intermediate- to high-risk NSTEMIs have a score of ≥ 3 and hence would likely benefit from an invasive strategy during the index admission.
